ABOUT ME

You’re probably wondering who I am and why I think I can teach you about money, so let me clear that up. I’m Stacy. I have a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, and I’m an accounting professor at the Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University. I have always had a passion for money -not just earning it, but understanding it, manipulating it. Even as a child – my older sister could never understand that I always knew exactly how much money I had at any given time, so I knew when she’d steal some. My aunt teased me when I was ten because I slept with my pocketbook under my pillow. Yep, I did that!

Corporate Life

After getting my bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rutgers University, I spent fifteen years working in the corporate world as an accountant – Ernst & Young, ADP, Fidelity Investments, and more. I traveled around the world, managed major projects, and broke glass ceilings. At some point, though, I knew I needed a new challenge. Returning To Academia

I ended up going back to school – Georgia State University for my MBA, then the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for my Ph.D. in Accounting – I decided to go into teaching so that I could help prepare the next generation to take over. I love it – I love helping people understand the thrills of accounting, seeing the “lightbulb” go on, and watching them grow in the field. But I also noticed how many of my students didn’t understand their own money, how many of their friends struggled to meet that day’s bills, much less save for the future.

The World Is A Classroom

So now, it’s time for my next venture – to make a genuine and honest financial education accessible for everyone. I genuinely believe that if everyone understands money, they can improve their financial health. I want to empower people to control their money –not be controlled by it! No get-rich-quick schemes, no sleight-of-hand tricks to make it look easier than it is, just real explanations of financial concepts and authentic advice. Like I tell my students, you’ll have to put in the work, but in the end, your confidence with all things money and your growing savings account will reflect your final grade …A+.
